Hilos, World Premiere at the Auditorium of Zaragoza
On November 16, 2026, the Auditorium of Zaragoza, Spain, will host the world premiere of Hilos, a new work by composer Inés Badalo, performed by Grupo Enigma and Stephanie Llamprea under the direction of Asier Puga.
Based on the poetry of Chantal Maillard, Hilos explores the intricate relationship between voice, language and sound, bringing Maillard’s evocative texts into dialogue with Badalo’s contemporary musical language.
The project was funded by a Leonardo Grant awarded to Inés Badalo by the BBVA Foundation, supporting the composer’s creative work and the development of this new composition.
World Premiere of Rust II
On 11 October 2026, the Serralves Foundation in Porto will host the world premiere of Rust II, a new composition by Inés Badalo.
The work will be performed by ars ad hoc, who will present Rust II for the first time in the context of a concert at the Serralves Foundation. The premiere marks the first public performance of this new work by the composer.
The concert is supported by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation and Arte no Tempo.
Glass Landscapes II, World Premiere in South America
From June 18 to 30, 2026, Glass Landscapes II, a new work by Inés Badalo, will be presented across Brazil and Argentina by Nuno Aroso and Clamat – Colectivo Variável.
The tour will open on June 18 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, with the world premiere of Glass Landscapes II. The work will then travel to São João do Rei on June 21 and Campinas on June 22, before reaching General Roca, Argentina, on June 26 for its Argentine premiere as part of the Festival Internacional de Percusión Patagonia, at the Auditorio Dr. Tilo Rajneri.
The tour will conclude in São Paulo, with performances on June 29 and 30 at the Teatro Maria de Lourdes Sekeff.
Khemia will receive its Mexican Premiere
Khemia, a work by composer Inés Badalo, will receive its Mexican premiere on 31 October 2025 at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. The work will be performed by the Mexico National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Ludwig Carrasco.
The performance will form part of the Manuel Enríquez International New Music Forum, a prominent platform dedicated to contemporary music in Mexico.
Real Filharmonía de Galicia announces the World Premiere of a new work by Inés Badalo
The Real Filharmonía de Galicia presents its 2025–2026 season with the world premiere of a new orchestral work by composer Inés Badalo. Commissioned by the orchestra, the world premiere will be conducted by Baldur Brönnimann and will take place on 9 October at the Auditorio de Galicia in Santiago de Compostela, followed by a second performance on 10 October at the Auditorio de Ferrol.
Inés Badalo’s Dé/coll-age at the Internationalen Ferienkursen für Neue Musik Darmstadt
On August 2, 2025, Dé-coll/age, a work by composer Inés Badalo, received its German premiere at the Internationalen Ferienkursen für Neue Musik Darmstadt.
The work will be performed by the saxophonist Carmen Salguero within the context of the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music.
Inés Badalo featured composer at Aveiro’s Reencontros de Música Contemporânea
Composer Inés Badalo will be featured as a composer at the Aveiro biennial Reencontros de Música Contemporânea, where several of her works will be presented throughout this edition of the festival.
The programme will offer audiences the opportunity to discover a diverse selection of Badalo’s music, performed by renowned ensembles and musicians:
15th — Electrum, performed by Taleae Trio.
22nd — Rust, receiving its Portuguese premiere, performed by the hand werk ensemble.

Inés Badalo receives the Leonardo Grant from the BBVA Foundation
Composer Inés Badalo has been awarded a Leonardo Grant by the BBVA Foundation in support of a new interdisciplinary compositional project bringing together music, poetry and philosophy.
The project will be developed in collaboration with philosopher and poet Chantal Maillard, conductor Asier Puga, soprano Stephanie Lamprea and Grupo Enigma. The grant will support the creation of this new work, fostering a dialogue between Badalo’s musical language and the ideas and perspectives of her collaborators.
The Leonardo Grant represents an important recognition of Badalo’s artistic work and provides an opportunity to develop a new project at the intersection of contemporary music, literature and thought.
Cartografía volátil will receive its Japanese Premiere at Tokyo Opera City
Inés Badalo’s Cartografía volátil will receive its Japanese premiere on 5 October 2024 at Tokyo Opera City, one of Tokyo’s most prestigious cultural venues and a major centre for classical and contemporary music in Japan.
The work will be performed by NOMAD Ensemble under the direction of conductor and composer Norio Sato.
Inés Badalo receives the SGAE-AEOS Symphonic Commission Award
In 2024, composer Inés Badalo was awarded the SGAE-AEOS Symphonic Commission Award, one of the leading recognitions for orchestral creation in Spain. The award commissioned her to compose a new concerto for piano and orchestra, Zafre.
The world premiere will be performed by pianist Alberto Rosado and the Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias, conducted by Shiyeon Sung, in two concerts in Asturias:

Vertixe Sonora Performs Anthophila in Vienna
On 21 June 2024, Ensemble Vertixe Sonora will present Anthophila, a work by composer Inés Badalo, at Alte Schmiede Kunstverein Wien, Austria.
The performance will feature saxophonist Pablo Coello and electric guitarist Nuno Pinto, members of the ensemble, in a concert dedicated to contemporary music and the exploration of new musical languages.
World Premiere of Rust by the Spanish National Youth Orchestra (JONDE)
Composer Inés Badalo will be featured as a guest composer at the next meeting of the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España (JONDE), to be held in Santiago de Compostela. The meeting will include the world premiere of Rust, commissioned by the orchetra. The programme will be presented as part of the Xornadas de Música Contemporánea, in Galicia, and will bring together JONDE with prominent ensembles and musicians from the contemporary music scene, including Trío Arbós, clarinettist Joan Enric Lluna, Ensemble Modern and conductor Pablo Rus.
Andrea De Vitis to premiere Rhizome at the Sarasota International Guitar Festival
Composer Inés Badalo’s Rhizome will receive its world premiere in a performance by renowned Italian guitarist Andrea De Vitis at the Sarasota International Guitar Festival.
The concert will take place on 20 April at the Riverview Performing Arts Center in Florida, as part of the festival’s programme dedicated to the guitar.
Zahir Ensemble performs Grid in three Contemporary Music Festivals
Inés Badalo’s Grid will be performed by Zahir Ensemble as part of three different contemporary music festivals in Spain. The performances will present Badalo’s work in a variety of contexts dedicated to the promotion and performance of contemporary repertoire.

Monographic concert dedicated to Inés Badalo
Lumina Ensemble will present a monographic concert dedicated to the music of composer Inés Badalo on 27 April at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Alicante (Spain).
The programme will offer a focused exploration of Badalo’s compositional work, bringing together a selection of her music in a concert that highlights the distinctive character and diversity of her contemporary musical language.
The event will take place at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Alicante, creating a dialogue between Badalo’s music and the contemporary artistic environment of one of the city’s prominent cultural institutions.
The Spanish National Orchestra and Choir presents its 2023-2024 season including the world premiere of a new work by Inés Badalo
The Spanish National Orchestra and Choir (OCNE) presents its 2023–2024 season with the world premiere of a new orchestral work by composer Inés Badalo. Commissioned by the OCNE, the new piece will be performed by the Spanish National Orchestra under the direction of renowned conductor Juanjo Mena.
The premiere will take place on 29 September 2023 at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid.
Austrian Premiere of Arkhé at the Suena Festival

Inés Badalo at the International Rostrum of Composers
Composer Inés Badalo was presented at the International Rostrum of Composers by Antena 2, the Portuguese public radio station dedicated to classical music and culture.
Her work was included in this international forum for contemporary musical creation, held in 2023 in Netherlands, which brings together broadcasters and music professionals from different countries to present and promote new works by composers from around the world.
Inés Badalo, composer-in-residence of the NAK Festival
Inés Badalo will be the composer-in-residence of the NAK Festival, and will present the world premiere of Arkhé, a new work for saxophone quartet commissioned by the festival. The premiere will take place on 17 September at Civivox Condestable in Pamplona, Spain.
The work will be performed by SIGMA Project, one of the leading ensembles dedicated to contemporary saxophone repertoire. Composer Inés Badalo’s Grid will be performed by members of the ars ad hoc ensemble on 7 November at the Serralves Auditorium in Porto, Portugal.

Terra Ignota receives its World Premiere in Paris
A new work by composer Inés Badalo, Terra Ignota, will be premiered in Paris on 4 March at the Colegio de España. The work was commissioned by the Colegio de España and INAEM.
Ensemble Sonido Extremo will give the first performance of the piece under the direction of Jordi Francés. The premiere will take place at the Colegio de España in Paris as part of its programme of musical activities.

There will be a series of concerts in tribute to the composer Luis de Pablo in different parts of France, where the world premiere of the work Sorriso audível das folhas by Inés Badalo will take place. The work is commissioned by Densité 93.
The concert program will be performed by the Vocal Ensemble Soli-Tutti and the Instrumental Ensemble Densités, conducted by Denis Gautheyrie and Zahia Ziouani, respectively.
Inés Badalo wins the Composition Prize of the Colegio de España in Paris – INAEM
Composer Inés Badalo has been awarded the Composition Prize of the Colegio de España in Paris – INAEM, granted in recognition of her work in the field of musical composition.
The prize is organised by the Colegio de España in collaboration with the INAEM (National Institute of Performing Arts and Music) of the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sports. Established in 1994, the annual award is dedicated to promoting Spanish musical creation and supporting the development of new works in the field of composition.
Badalo joins the list of composers recognised by the prize since its creation, in the context of the Colegio de España’s programme supporting Spanish artistic and musical creation in Paris.
World Premiere of Inés Badalo’s Glosas at Ensems Festival

World Premiere of Inés Badalo’s Quimera Etérea

Inés Badalo wins Plural Ensemble’s Call for Young Composers
Composer Inés Badalo has been selected as the winner of the Call for Young Composers of Plural Ensemble with her work Trigramas.

Inés Badalo wins the FIDAPA Prize – Città di Udine Composition Competition
Composer Inés Badalo has been awarded the FIDAPA Prize – Concorso Internazionale di Composizione Città di Udine for her work Estelas translúcidas.
As part of the award, Estelas translúcidas will be performed at Contemporanea – Festival di Nuova Musica in Udine, Italy, presenting the work within the festival’s programme dedicated to contemporary music.
The prize recognises Badalo’s composition within an international competition focused on contemporary musical creation, with the winning work subsequently included in the festival programme in Udine.
Spanish Premiere of Inés Badalo’s Entropía by the Extremadura Symphony Orchestra
Inés Badalo’s orchestral work Entropía will receive its Spanish premiere during the 2018–2019 season of the Extremadura Symphony Orchestra. The work will be performed under the direction of conductor Andrés Salado in two concerts in Extremadura.
The performances will take place on 20 November in Cáceres and 29 November in Badajoz. The Badajoz concert will form part of the 10th Ciclo de Música Actual organised by the Sociedad Filarmónica de Badajoz, in co-production with the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical (CNDM).
Inés Badalo wins the Fernando Lopes-Graça International Composition Prize
Composer Inés Badalo has been awarded the VI International Composition Prize Fernando Lopes-Graça for her work Black and White 180º JSB. The jury unanimously selected Badalo’s composition as the winner of the sixth edition of the international competition.
The winning work will receive its premiere on 17 December at the Cascais Cultural Centre in Portugal, performed by pianists Saul Picado and Diana Botelho.
The Fernando Lopes-Graça International Composition Prize is an established Portuguese competition dedicated to contemporary composition and the creation of new musical repertoire.
Entropía to be Premiered by the Gulbenkian Orchestra
Inés Badalo’s orchestral work Entropía will receive its world premiere on 7 October at the Grande Auditório of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon.
The work will be performed by the Gulbenkian Orchestra under the direction of conductor Nuno Coelho. Entropía was awarded the Prémio de Composição SPA / Antena 2.
The premiere will mark the first performance of Entropía in a concert at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, one of Portugal’s major institutions for music and the arts.
Inés Badalo wins the Prize of Portuguese Authors Society / Antena 2 RTP
Composer Inés Badalo has been awarded the Prize of the Portuguese Authors Society / Antena 2 RTP for her orchestral work Entropía.
As part of the prize, Entropía will receive its world premiere performed by the Gulbenkian Orchestra under the direction of conductor Nuno Coelho. The premiere will take place at the Grande Auditório of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon.
The award and premiere form part of the programme supporting contemporary musical creation promoted by the Portuguese Authors Society and Antena 2 RTP.
